Today we will be showing you how to program a GM transponder key. This will work on some of the 07’s that came with a transponder key and up to date. I know that it works up to 2016 as I have just programed this one in the video a 2016 GMC 2500HD truck. This should work for GM, GMC, Chevrolet, Pontiac, oldsmobile, Buick and saturn.

To start you will need one original already programed key. Well enter the vehicle and sit in the driver’s seat with the door closed. The next steps need to be done within 10 seconds of each other for it to successfully program the new key.

To start we’ll take the original key put it into the ignition and turn the key to the ON position. You will see a security light on the dash light up when you see it go out turn the key off and remove it from the ignition. Next take the new key to be programmed and insert and turn it to the ON position the security light should illuminate on the dash and when it goes out we can turn the key off and remove it.

Now if you have inserted and turned on and removed the original key and then inserted the new key and turned it on and removed it within 10 seconds that should have successfully programmed the new key. So next we can reinsert the new key and test it to ensure that it will start the vehicle. This one does work as it should.

So that’s it we have just showed you how to program a GM transponder key.

i have tried thee 30 minute gm key relearn procedure but vehicle did not start. can you give me any ideas on anything else to try? or how many times can i try this procedure?

Not sure if you had the doors closed. Should just be put the key in turn to the ON position ( don’t start it) wait for security light to go out then quickly remove the working key and insert the one you want to program and turn it to the ON position and wait for the light to go out and then turn off and remove key. wait 30 seconds or so and check to see if the new key works.
